Abstract

The article highlights, among others, the importance that epistemology has for the tourism, in the sense of the possibility of a serious and strong building beyond taking tourism like a normative scheme in the production of a knowledge. Also several disciplinary contributions are described; however, the point is that the appearance of such several scientific disciplines demands legitimacy in the tourist knowledge produced, as well as new forms to organize it and to classify it, in its attempt to produce strictness. For that reason, an analysis that we have introduced is the role that university gets in such objective: vital not like a subject of “academic impulsive change” but of intellectual survival, fostering critic and reflection among investigators and students, when building up study targets which can be classified as touristic.
